The Institute has also played a role in fostering closer regional integration and international cooperation through forums such as the Asia-Pacific Roundtable, the ASEAN Institutes of Strategic and International Studies (ASEAN-ISIS), the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (PECC) and the Network of East Asian Think-Tanks (NEAT). The Asia-Pacific Roundtable (APR) is the signature international conference of the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia. Widely recognised as one the region’s key Track 2 strategic conferences, the APR has been organised annually for over 33 years, being postponed for the first time in 2020 due to global travel and health restrictions brought about by the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Hosted by ISIS Malaysia, on behalf of the ASEAN-ISIS Network, a network of leading Southeast Asian policy institutes and think tanks, it has regularly attracted over 300 great minds of various backgrounds and has seen lively, frank, and constructive conversations on a gamut of contemporary issues impacting the security, stability, sustainability, and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region.

This year, the 34th APR focuses on the theme of “Disruption Redux”, underscoring the ongoing disruptive impact(s) of the global pandemic on various spheres of the evolving architectures and mechanisms underpinning the Asia Pacific, and its long-term ripple effects.

As we all know, in-person events were brought to a halt due to the COVID-19. Business events have been canceled and postponed until further notice. At a time of travel restriction and any precautions containing the strict SOPs, the Asia-Pacific Roundtable in the year 2020 was forced to cancel. As Malaysia’s premier think-tank, ISIS Malaysia had to reconsider the event format to maintain the conversation and retain the industry position.

As the world is taking urgent action to combat climate change, the focus was dramatically shifted towards digitization  – Virtual Event. There is no denying that virtual events offer their own set of benefits that physical events cannot achieve. With all this in mind, ISIS Malaysia decided to host the 34th Asia-Pacific Roundtable (APR) virtually, yet complimentary.

ISIS Malaysia was looking for the best option for virtual event management to provide a responsive virtual event platform. They needed a more sufficient solution that serve the event goals.

Let’s take a look at how a.c.e cooperated with ISIS Malaysia to bring their first-ever virtual conference with the powerful virtual platform.

Features Highlighted

  1. Bold Identity With Branding

Once the virtual attendees enter the virtual platform, the virtual venue was prominently branded. ISIS Malaysia’s welcome video was placed at the center screen at the virtual lobby for the introduction of the 34th APR. The branding opportunity was also offered at Networking Lounge.

While the virtual attendees spent the majority of time watching live streams, the Plenary Hall was also included a left-hand banner to present the organizer’s logo as well as to showcase the event partners’ logos. Additionally, all the banners were clickable which would be directed to the corresponding landing pages. The brand visibility was guaranteed in the virtual platform.

  1. Engaging Sessions

34th APR scheduled multiple speaker sessions for the two half-days event. The sessions were live-streamed on the platform, followed by the Q&A session. This encouraged the live interaction and engagement between speakers and virtual attendees. The sessions were being recorded where the virtual attendees could rewatch them at any time after the event. Besides that, speakers’ profile was accessible at the Briefcase which could be downloaded at the Briefcase.

  1. Partners Hall

The Partners Hall was the place for the partners to incorporate their company profile, gallery, brochure, and social media profiles. Access was also be granted where the virtual attendees would be able to drop their name cards and connect with the partners via the Live Chat throughout the virtual conference.

  1. Pop-Up Survey

All the plenary sessions were integrated with session surveys to collect the evaluation of session performance. With the Pop-up Survey, ISIS Malaysia was able to analyze the real-time data and take advantage of the insight reports for future improvement.

THE EVENT SUCCESS: The Seamless Backend Panel

In their first virtual conference, the virtual platform backend was the best feature for ISIS Malaysia to collect real-time data. It provided exceptional analysis, including the event’s headcount, sessions’ preference, booths’ engagement, banners’ impression, etc. It was the most efficient analytics that was impossible to be collected at an in-person event. ISIS Malaysia greatly valued it for future event improvement.

The good news is, ISIS Malaysia will be working with a.c.e to welcome their first virtual launched of PRAXIS 2021. Stay tuned for another success!
