CHALLENGES
The Cooler Earth Sustainability Summit is the annual flagship event. This year, the hybrid Summit was themed “Sustainability in Action: Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow”, designed to be accessible to everyone at no cost, with the goal of enabling capacity-building among a wider audience from the ASEAN region. It was a significant undertaking, and we were specifically tasked with overseeing the virtual aspects of this inclusive and impactful event.
With various speakers and presenters participating, maintaining a cohesive message that aligned with the event’s sustainability objectives was a critical challenge. We began by defining clear content guidelines and objectives that harmonized with the event’s theme. Collaborating closely with the physical event team, we selected speakers who were experts in the field. Pre-screening sessions and rehearsals were conducted for each speaker, regardless of their location, to review and fine-tune their content, ensuring it adhered to the established standards. Additionally, we created a speaker’s guide and presentation template for uniformity, offering feedback to speakers as needed. A content review team was established, and we coordinated with the physical event team to ensure that both in-person and virtual delivery maintained quality and consistency. Our flexibility in handling unforeseen challenges was paramount in achieving a successful and impactful virtual aspect of the event, complementing the physical component while upholding content quality and messaging integrity.

- Managed specialized masterclasses for Boards, CFOs, and Sustainability Practitioners, promoting interactive learning and networking.
- Orchestrated immersive experiences, enabling exploration of natural landscapes and sustainable technologies.

PHYSICAL HIGHLIGHTS
- Photo Wall
The photo wall was adorned with plants, not only as a decorative element but also with the intention to distribute these plants to attendees after the event, promoting the concept of sustainable gifting and green practices. To further reduce their environmental footprint, the event reused LED lights and backdrop stands from a previous occasion, showcasing their commitment to recycling and sustainability in event management.
- Partner Booth
The partner booths were designed to collaborate with various ESG/Sustainability organizations, allowing attendees to explore and understand the importance of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives. This provided a unique opportunity for participants to learn more about how businesses and organizations are contributing to sustainability.
- Taman Tugu stands as a 66-acre forest park, nestled in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, dedicated to preserving and protecting a secondary forest. Their mission revolves around conserving the natural beauty of this forest, providing an invaluable green space for the public.
- Impacto & CEO Action Network (CAN) represented a coalition of visionary CEOs from leading Malaysian businesses. This closed-door, peer-to-peer network emphasized sustainability advocacy, capacity building, and tangible action to drive performance. During the event, they shared terrariums, symbolizing their commitment to growth and nurturing change with the attendees.
- Refiller Mobile embraced eco-conscious practices by encouraging attendees to bring their own bottles and containers for refilling with soap and various other items. Their services extended to soap refills and a range of eco-friendly household cleaning agents, dry nuts, toothpaste, skincare, and other sustainable alternatives. This approach underlines their commitment to reducing plastic waste and promoting sustainable choices.
- .Bungkus is an innovative recycling project that breathes new life into discarded plastic bags. These bags are transformed into ‘fabric,’ which artists and designers then craft into bags, wallets, raincoats, and other accessories. Notably, this recycling process is designed to be accessible for B40 communities, contributing not only to the reduction of plastic waste but also to generating income through the use of typical household appliances. This initiative exemplifies the creative potential of recycling and upcycling in contributing to a sustainable future.
- Opening Performance
The opening performance was a captivating showcase of art and dance, aligning with the event’s theme to emphasize the significance of ESG and sustainability. It aimed to visually and emotionally convey these critical messages to the audience. The performance featured the Cyberdansa Dance Crew and Dato’ Zainal Abidin, known for the iconic ‘Hijau’ song. This dynamic act ingeniously utilized powerful emotions, sound effects of nature, and visual storytelling to illustrate the impact of human actions on the environment. The performance transitioned from portraying a polluted environment, complete with bird sounds and jungle scenes, to emphasizing that our actions, or inaction, can have far-reaching consequences. It closed with a celebration of sustainability efforts and a transformation into a greener environment, accompanied by a heartfelt rendition of ‘Hijau’ by Dato’ Zainal Abidin. This conveyed the essential message that our individual and collective efforts in sustainability have a profound impact on the environment and future generations.
