On Nov 18, 2021, Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad and OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Berhad agreed to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bursa Malaysia Berhad to establish #financing4ESG. Under the MoU terms, the collaboration between Bursa Malaysia and Malaysian Financial Institutions aimed to accelerate the adoption of environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices among Public Listed Companies (PLCs).
This signing ceremony of the MoU was a continuation of the first collaboration between the Exchange and CIMB Group on May 12, 2021, followed by HSBC Amanah on 08 February 2022.
CHALLENGES
Bursa Malaysia has launched the initiatives since 2014. Seven years after, the ceremony was not cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic, yet completely hosted and run online, to continue to support PLCs through sustainable financing, and create positive ESG impacts within the business operations, in alignment with the objective to elevate PLCs as regional leaders across the marketplace.
The business relationship between a.c.e and Bursa Malaysia is built on trust. We are incredibly proud to witness such a prosperous moment, to have the representatives from the three parties, Bursa Malaysia, Alliance Bank and OCBC Bank dial in from three different locations and ceremonially signed the MoU virtually.
HIGHLIGHTS
The event #financing4ESG: Advancing ESG Adoption Among PLCs successfully heightened the Malaysian market capitalism, moving forward to optimising the ESG index and expanding the ESG-based investor relations. On top of that, a.c.e virtual platform played a sustainable role for Bursa Malaysia to access investor relations engagement as well as its global outreach.
