The Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA) was established on 1st November 1971. 50 years ago, the five countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand were put together through a series of multi-lateral agreements, where they are to consult each other and decide their response to measures taken in the event of an armed attack or threat.
Event Objectives
- To commemorate the milestones and empower the long-standing multilateral arrangement in a more mature status.
- To send appreciation for the contribution to the success of FPDA and strengthen the friendships among the nations.
- Create a highly celebratory atmosphere and engaging digital experience with green technology.
- Achieve sustainable growth, and provide a channel that enhances mutual trust for substantial progress.
Event Challenges
With Headquarters Integrated Area Defence System (HQIADS) celebrating 50 years anniversary of FPDA, a.c.e was given less than two weeks time for the event planning. In the midst of the pandemic, everything must comply with “contactless” from the stages of discussion, preparation, coordination, and execution to evaluation. As a.c.e is based in Kuala Lumpur, a written police permit was required for the team to interstate travel to Penang following the travel regulations.
Event Execution
The day before the event, the a.c.e team were on-site at Penang to oversee the set-up of the production. We managed to oversee all details and did all the preparations to avoid any postponement.
This year, HQIADS was celebrating the FPDA 50th Anniversary on the actual date at the Eastern and Oriental Hotel, Penang. On the afternoon of the event, the Defence Chiefs of the FPDA member-nations attended the virtual ceremony via video teleconference. To mark the occasion, the ‘Bersama Lima – Five Together: Celebrating 50 years and Beyond’ book was launched in conjunction with the virtual ceremony.
FPDA 50th Anniversary by HQIADS was a tremendous success. The feedback received from the participants was extremely positive. What HQIADS says about a.c.e:
“With little than two weeks’ notice, a.c.e created the necessary backdrops and slides required for our event and offered a choreographed sequence of slides based on our planned program. The day prior to the event, they arrived in Penang and set up ready for rehearsals. The event itself could not have been executed better; the a.c.e team provided exactly the right solution to our needs and positively contributed to the event success of our event.”
